Luxury Retreat, Private Island at Royal Island, Bahamas
Chad Chisholm
Does the allure of a private island complete with your own chef, personal staff, and secretive sand bar appeal? Or possibly your own spa, fitness center, pool and beach steps from your villa? Then Royal Island, Bahamas is just the ticket. Offered by Cuvée, this island paradise is an exclusive island retreat in the sunny Bahamas.

Measuring in at over 400 acres, the single dock is the entry point for your exclusive getaway. Greeted with chilled coconuts upon arrival (with or without rum, I highly suggest with), bags are whisked away to your villa while the crystal clear waters gently lap the shore of a private white sand beach under swaying palm fronds. Friendly staff are on-call for guests, and the pool deck just beyond is begging for a day of soaking in the sun.

Home to five villas, the island sleeps 10-14 guests comfortably and is a one-key opportunity, meaning you won’t be sharing the island with anyone. In addition to the five villas, a bunk room and spa suite are available, perfect for kids or nanny’s, private pilots or additional entourage. The five villas themselves are appointed with king-sized beds with a vantage point of the sea, sandy entry along the beach (no worries about tracking in unwanted sand, with a foot-washing shower located at each villa) and wrap-around porch. Oversized master-style bathroom suites and soaking tubs are finished in deep hues of rich woods, vaulted ceilings adding a light and airy aspect to the villa. Complimentary snacks and wine can be found in the large bar area behind the headboard if you truly never wish to leave the villa.

Central to the property is the Beach Club, where a bar, dining space, and patio await. Off the club is the pool deck and adjacent Fitness Center, complete with spa and lounge area. Island activities vary with available jet skis, snorkel trips from your own island boat, sandbar experience, yoga (pool or beachside), or if you’d rather just swing away the afternoon in a hammock, it’s up to you.
Dining on-island is provided by a Cuvée Chef, with local ingredients and fresh catches of the day infusing the menu with authentic cuisine. Whether enjoying a cup of coffee while wandering the dock at sunrise or relishing a candlelit dinner at sunset with your fellow guests, the food accentuates the stay at every turn.

Cuvée experiences are curated to each guests’ desire; up for an adventure? Take a jet ski over to the swimming pig beach to feed the affable pigs apples in the water. Want to relax and rejuvenate? Enjoy a massage in the spa and have some freshly-pressed juice before a guided meditation on the beach. If you’re up for live entertainment and dancing, the best band in the Bahamas can be arranged for an event unlike you’ve ever had. There’s something for everyone—from a firepit on the beach to brunch on a sandbar where the only other guests you’ll see are birds finding their own lunch in the sand.
Royal Island, Bahamas is a luxury experience unrivaled by many with the exclusivity it provides not only as a private island, but with the activities afforded to its guests. Attracting celebrity sports stars, actors, and musicians alike, the playground by the sea is a location to make memories of a lifetime at this Bahamian retreat. JustLuxe insider tips:
Charter your own plane or take a private jet to North Eleuthera as small regional flights are notorious for cancellations and delays.
While the island has its own bug defenses and readily-available bug spray, consider long sleeves for the evenings on-island.
The Bahamas is on “island time,” so be prepared to sit back, relax, and enjoy the slow pace of the locale.
